In the winter of 2021, Richard Sears, an American pianist and composer, embarked on a journey to a remote part of Latvia to visit the studio of David Klavins, a renowned instrument builder devoted to creating acoustic keyboard instruments that challenge and expand upon the modern piano form. Richard's journey to Latvia, his conversations with David Klavins, and his performances on David’s 450i, a towering upright piano standing at 5m (15ft) in height, were meticulously documented by filmmakers Kamil Dymek, Pawel Ptak, and Mikolaj Bakalarz of Step3.
